Waking up with a whole new attitude

I visited another church last night and it was a breath of fresh air. The singing wasn't perfect or astoundingly great but, they were singing to worship. I hear a lot of singing to be heard and not much of the worship kind.

I spoke with an older gentleman that sang a couple of songs that he wrote. He spologized for not "sounding" very good as he was not much of a singer. He did not have a beautiful voice and it was actually very rouch but I got more out of his simple message though than I do hearing the 7-11 kind of singing with "professional" voices. That's seven lines sang eleven times or more. Pretty typical especially in Pentecostal churches where the singers feel it's their duty to whip the Holy Ghost into shape. Without them nothing would happen and no one could worship. I wouldn't mind going back to the old style of congregational singers and no "worship" leaders for a while. If you could see some of the deadpan looks on some of the faces in the worship group you'd wonder why they sing. Then there's the ones that fell that if they aren't the lead and in control nothing is being done. They want to be heard over everyone else in the monitors and in the house. This is the main reason I'm out of the sound room, I got soul sick from all the egotistical maniacs and it continuing on and on and on.

Yesterday morning I got up and went to my church. After my prayer early that same morning I noticed a lot more friendly people. Some that hadn't spoken in a while even. I don't think it's them that have changed. My classes went great and I think most of the kids got the ideaof the lesson. The main story was about the 5 wise and 5 foolish virgins and being ready to go to Heaven. I used object lessons to teach about being ready to go. It's really pretty cool some of the things that you can use. Our puppets did a song called "Get Ready", I did a "Joy in Your Life Routine" where a bottle of Joy is ultimatemately produced from a box of Life that a lot of other things have been put into, and a torn and restored life/picture. Really neat illustrations that help to understand being ready.

As my daughter would say "There's a storm coming." Everytime I start making a positive move toward the Holy Ghost and reconcilliation, something else comes against me. I'm at a point that I need a respite. So, for now I pray "God keep me in your arms safe. Please give me understanding for the things that have happened and those that will happen. Thank you Lord for all your kindness, protection, and leading. Give me strength to forgive and above all wisdom to know your will from my own. In Jesus name I pray these things. Amen"
